Hand Rejuvenation

What is hand rejuvenation?

  • As we age our hands become veiny, knobby and the skin pigmented and dry.
  • But the good news is that a signature laser treatment at Aurora Dermatology is helping to give patients the upper hand on ageing.
  • Loss of volume is another issue which makes veins appear more prominent and hands more bony.

What happens during a hand rejuvenation?

  • Dr Parisa will take a history to find out if there are any factors that are increasing your risk of hand damage whether sunlight or occupational chemicals such as cleaning agents.
  • laseraser can be used to improve the texture and colour of the hands.
  • At Aurora Dermatology we use state of the art C02 laser treatment and dermal fillers to  replace the volume that has been lost

The SmartXide Punto CO2 laser, brings together 30 years of dermatology expertise and aesthetic medicine. Many patients will experience dramatic results in just one session and this laser allows doctors as part of hand rejuvenation. The laser also treats sun damage, reduces ageing, improves skin texture and scar damage.

What are the side effects of hand rejuvenation?

  • Typically you will have little to no downtime after a “hand lift”
  • Immediately after treatment you should notice more volume in your hands.
  • There may be some minor bruising and swelling that will subside in two or three days.

What are the benefits of hand rejuvenation?

  • Improved texture and skin quality on the hands
  • Less veiny hands
  • Reduced wrinkling
  • Younger, more supple looking hands
  • Improved self-image

How long will the results last and how many treatments are needed?

  • As a rough guide, fillers may last up to a year, laser treatments can permanently destroy ageing spots but will not stop new ones forming over time.

Most women will see a noticeable difference in their hands that will last between 9 months and a year.

Dr Parisa generally recommends a follow-up treatment 18 months later.

What are lifestyle tips to keep hands young?

  • Apply sunscreen to your hands, not just your face, and don’t forget your driving arm, or better still wear cotton gloves when driving.
  • Wear nude nail polish, which makes hands look longer and slimmer (just like a little black dress does)
  • Always moisturise your hands daily, ideally after a shower so moisture is better absorbed.
